The Association of International Accountants (AIA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Andreas Aloneftis as the new president of AIA.
The appointment comes as the tenure of long standing President Tommy Tam comes to an end after serving 4 years in post.
Andreas Aloneftis was AIA Senior Vice President for 4 years prior to being elected. Mr Aloneftis is currently the Executive Vice Chairman of Alliance International Reinsurance, a Cyprus based reinsurance company and risk carrier and has held previous posts as Minister of Defence in the Republic of Cyprus and CEO for CISCO.

President: Tommy Tam, FAIA FCPA JP
Tommy Tam was elected as President and Chairman of AIA in 2003. Tommy is Managing Director of Tomson Holdings Limited and Tomson Capital Limited, an investment holding company participating in private equity in unlisted companies. Tommy is a Justice of the Peace ( 太平紳士 ) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, a Council Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors, Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Sports Institute, an honorary director of the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association, a Council Member of the Singapore Chamber of Commerce (Hong Kong) and Advisor to the Professional Validation Council of Hong Kong Industries. Tommy has been appointed as director of NANO and Advanced Material Institute Ltd. (NAMI) , which is fully funded by the Hong Kong Government, and also Chairman of Audit and Finance Committee of NAMI. He is also INED of Winbox International (Holdings) Limited, a manufacturing company of high quality gift boxes, where he is currently Chairman of the Audit Committee and Remuneration Committee. Tommy is also INED of Elegance International Holdings Ltd., a listed company in Hong Kong which is a leading optical frame manufacturer. Tommy has been appointed as an Honorary Associate of the Hong Kong Baptist University, is a mentor for the students of Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and serves as committee member on the Finance Committee for City University of Hong Kong and member of the Board of Management, Community College of The City University of Hong Kong. In mainland China, he is a Member of CPPCC, Shandong Province ( 山東省政協(xié)委員 ) and is also a Director of a number of Overseas Friendship Associations in various provinces and cities in China. Tommy also serves on a number of sub-committees of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Tommy is currently a Committee Member of the AIA Hong Kong Branch, was President of the AIA Hong Kong Branch for the years 1986–1988, 1995 and 1996. Tommy was executive director of National Electric Holdings Ltd., a listed company in Hong Kong for over 25 years before he established his own business.
Vice President: Andreas Aloneftis, FAIA MBA AdipC
Former Minister of Defence for the Republic of Cyprus, Andreas Aloneftis is currently Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Allied Capital Ltd, a Business Solutions Company which is also the General Partner in a Venture Capital Fund. Andreas is also the Executive Vice Chairman of Alliance International Reinsurance, a Cyprus based reinsurance company and risk carrier. Andreas has worked in the field of international banking and finance throughout his career; at the Cyprus Development Bank Ltd; as CEO of CISCO, the investment bank he established in 1983; and as Managing Director of Cyprialife Ltd. Andreas has also participated in project work involving The World Bank and the International Finance Corporation and was appointed as the first secretary of the Cyprus Stock Exchange Interim Committee.
Vice President: Andrew Lamb, FAIA FCIPD FinstD
Andrew Lamb has been in public practice as a partner since 1976 and is currently the senior partner of PKB Underwood Lamb Associates Ltd holding an AIA Practising Certificate. This practice has predominately international clients with associated offices in London, Luxembourg and Geneva. Andrew is also President of a European group of accountants and lawyers. In the UK, Andrew has supported many business organisations and is currently the President of a UK Chamber of Commerce. Andrew is also a past Court Liveryman of the Information Technologists, the 100th City of London Livery Company.
Chief Executive: Philip Turnbull, FAIA FCCA FCPA FIMIS
Philip Turnbull, a Member of the Association's Council since 1994, was appointed Chief Executive of the Association in 1999. Prior to accepting this position, Philip held the role of AIA Director of Development and Training for a number of years. Under his direction, the Association has seen continued growth and development. Most recently, Philip has overseen the amalgamation of the Association and the Institute of Company Accountants, a move that has resulted in many benefits for members and students of both bodies. Philip previously worked for the Trafalgar House Group and Cable and Wireless Communications.
