6.no more …than 與not… any more than

　　no more …than 與not… any more than同義，不可簡(jiǎn)單地看成是more …than的否定形式。具體地說(shuō)，這一結(jié)構(gòu)可能是帶有一定的感情色彩的否定形式，也可能是一種較特殊的類(lèi)比形式。其翻譯方法有二；表示同類(lèi)否定比較時(shí)，可譯為不比…更或都…同樣不；表示比喻關(guān)系時(shí)，可譯為正如…不，…也不.

　　「例文」The food on the ship was no better than on any other ship on which Billy had sailed.

　　「譯文」這條船上(供應(yīng)的)食品并不如比利工作過(guò)的其他船上的(食品)好。(括號(hào)里的詞是可以省略的。)

　　「分析」這是一個(gè)主從復(fù)合句、主句是The food …no better , than on any other ship 是省略了比較對(duì)象的比較狀語(yǔ)從句，從句on which引導(dǎo)的定語(yǔ)從句修飾先行詞ship.本句中no more… than用于同類(lèi)否定的比較，可譯為不如….

　　7.not so much as與其說(shuō)…不如說(shuō)…

　　「例文」Science moves forward, they say, not so much through the insights of great men of genius as because of more ordinary things like improved techniques and tools.

　　「譯文」新學(xué)派科學(xué)家說(shuō)，科學(xué)的發(fā)展與其說(shuō)源于天才偉人的真知灼見(jiàn)，不如說(shuō)源于改進(jìn)了的技術(shù)和工具等等更為普遍的東西。

　　「分析」這是一個(gè)主從復(fù)合句。插入語(yǔ)they say是主句，Science moves forward,……and tools是賓語(yǔ)從句。not so much……as連接的是狀語(yǔ)，as引導(dǎo)的狀語(yǔ)從句中，由于上下文清楚，主謂語(yǔ)都省略了，即as(sciencemoves forward.)because of……not so much……as也可譯為與其說(shuō)……不如說(shuō)……，它所表達(dá)的邏輯關(guān)系和more than有相似之處，也是在比較的基礎(chǔ)上進(jìn)行判斷和選擇，被比較的事物也同屬一個(gè)范疇。所不同的是，more……than表示前重后輕的邏輯關(guān)系，而not so much… as和less than表示前輕后重的邏輯關(guān)系，這兩個(gè)結(jié)構(gòu)中信息重心落在句尾，因此不必倒過(guò)來(lái)譯，只須按原文的詞序順譯即可。

　　「譯文」你又犯了同上次一樣的錯(cuò)誤。

　　9.no less than(no less… than) 不但…而且；不亞于；簡(jiǎn)直是，實(shí)在是

　　「例文」China insists always on the need for self�瞨eliance, no less in economic policie than in making revolution.

　　「譯文」中國(guó)始終堅(jiān)持獨(dú)立自主，不但在進(jìn)行革命方面，而且在經(jīng)濟(jì)政策方面都是如此。

　　「分析」這是一個(gè)簡(jiǎn)單句，no less… than連接兩個(gè)介詞短語(yǔ)做狀語(yǔ)。no less… than連接兩個(gè)并列的成分，信息重心在前，因此漢譯時(shí)要倒過(guò)來(lái)譯。

　　10.none other than不是…正是；除了…外，不會(huì)是…

　　「例文」Reaction other than the desired one often occur when reactants are brought together.

　　「譯文」當(dāng)這些反應(yīng)物放在一起時(shí)，常發(fā)生不希望有的一些反應(yīng)(即：…常發(fā)生與希望有的反應(yīng)不同的反應(yīng))。

　　「分析」other than為固定結(jié)構(gòu)，其義有二：一是與…不同，而不是；二是除了之意。可插入名詞，本句中做與…不同解。
